I apologize for the lack of updates recently. But summer has just started for me and this drama had a total of 80 episodes.
夏家三千金 is a drama split up into two parts. Episodes 1-40 is under the title 夏家三千金 while episodes 41-80 (otherwise known as 1-40) is under the title 愛情真善美.
There are an abundance of moments that make you cry, smile, and want to rip your hair out.
Of course, at the same time, this drama is a typical drama of multiple love triangles (/squares) and people trying to hurt and harm each other. Family feuds.
Everyone's favorite couple, played by Roy Chiu 邱澤 and Tiffany Tang 唐嫣. In the drama, they are 嚴格 Yan Ge and 夏天美 Xia Tian Mei. Tiffany plays the youngest daughter of the Xia family and the innocent, sweet, incredibly nice girl in the drama who is severely hurt and forced to break up with Roy Chiu because of ex-girlfriend problems. Roy plays the cold hearted and heart broken CEO of a huge company whose heart is melted by Tiffany but is forced to break up with Tiffany because he felt he had to take care of his ex-girlfriend who had broken up with him 3 years ago.
Yan Ge's same father, different mother-ed younger brother, 嚴歷恆 Yan Li Heng falls in love with Tian Mei after she breaks up with Yan Ge. Their story is typical but incredibly sweet at parts. Too bad Tiffany still doesn't end up with him in the end because he would've been an amazing boyfriend/husband.
And of course, the villain of the drama. She is by far, one of the meanest. 孫筱菁 Sun Xiao Jing and 田昊 Tian Hao. Xiao Jing who has had a rough childhood wants to do everything in her power to get the wealth she thinks she deserves. Tian Hao, who despite the horrible woman she is, loves her unconditionally and therefore blindly follows all of Xiao Jing's evil plans in hopes that she will return to his side one day. Through various tactics, they try to and almost achieve the wealth they wanted through the Yan family. But of course, the villains never win. Hah.
The other love triangle. The girl, 楊真真 Yang Zhen Zhen is the Xia family's other daughter. However, her mother ran away from her father before her father knew that she was pregnant. Therefore, she had grown up her entire life without the presence of her father. The guy is her lover, 鐘浩天 Zhong Hao Tian.
夏友善 Xia You Shan is the Xia family's adopted daughter. However, this is only revealed to everyone in the later parts of the drama. She despite all odds, wants to win over Hao Tian from Zhen Zhen and tries all sorts of ways to break up the happy couple. Because of her, lots of drama arises between the three of them.
Overall, the drama isn't bad. I would say that a lot of it was definitely enjoyable to watch.
Not going to lie however, I did fast forward through most of the drama. There were too many parts of just plotting and fighting. It was getting a bit repetitive. I would give it a 3.5/5 only because I truly did enjoy Yan Ge and Xia Tian Mei's part of the story. However, I do have to say that for a good portion of the drama, the acting angered me because of how clueless and simpleminded some of the characters were. A lot of it could've been common sense.
I would only recommend this drama to those who feel the need to pass time. It is, after all, 80 episodes long.
